Stewardship is the spiritual discipline of remembering that the blessings we enjoy in this life, our time, gifts, talents, relationships, assets, and money ultimately come from God, not our own self-sufficiency. In gratitude for these gifts, we offer to God a portion back to God by supporting the church, the body of Christ. St. James functions because of the gifts of time and talent by many people in our community. We use the gifts of money for staffing, hospitality, worship services, teaching, and outreach to the underserved both locally and globally.

There are three methods for contributing funds to St. James:

  1. In person during worship services.  There are envelopes in the back of the pews in which you can put cash. If you write your name and contact information on the envelope, or if you write a check with your information on it, then we will be able to send you a record of your contributions. You can place this envelope or check in the collection plate when it is passed during the service.
  2. By mail. Send your check to our mailing address, which is: 1571 Lincoln Ave, San Jose, CA 95125-3319.
  3. Online. Currently Vanco is our only option for online giving. You can set up Vanco payments directly from your bank by following this link. We have no access to the information you provide Vanco — we only receive the funds that you set up on that platform. When you go to Vanco’s page you may choose the fund to which you’d like to donate – including Outreach.

Once a year we build a budget based on pledges of support for the coming year. At any time, as people join our congregation or want to support us as a non-member friend of St. James, they can make a pledge of support by using the form below.
