Less with More
We are trying to do less with more. There is a great temptation in start up churches to try to accomplish too much too quickly. The temptation is to list every missing piece of ministry and cajole someone into taking it on. We are intentionally not going that route.
We are attempting to organize our selves around the spiritual gifts within our community. God is in charge. If God gives us a leader with the gift of teaching then we begin a teaching ministry. Church is supposed to be fun. It is fun when we are working out of our gift set. Burn out sets in when people are doing too much, doing it alone, or doing it because it needs to be done.
We want our members to limit the number of ministry teams they support to two. We hope they will be on one team and maybe help out a second. We want our members to serve on a team where their gifts are used and where they enjoy making a difference. If we believe that God gives us the gifts we need for ministry than we must also believe that he has given us the gifts we need for now and that every new person brings gifts into our community that God thinks we need and are ready for.
We believe that by not diluting our gifts we will make the best use of them. That is after all why God gave them to us.
